The Whitetail Hunter 2 isn't aiming to be the best performance crossbow you'll buy, but for the pricepoint (check current prices) it is an outstanding purchase. The Hunter 2 is essentially a jack of all trades crossbow, especially when you take price into account.
350 feet per second is fast enough for the casual crossbow hunter, and a draw weight of 150 lbs is easy enough for any hunter to cock. With a width of 18.25 inches and 6.4 lbs it is a bit on the bulkier side, but the shorter length helps keep it in balance.
With 103 FPKE, that's enough to power to take down a deer, which should be obvious since it is called the Whitetail Hunter 2! You probably won't want to hunt any big game with this crossbow as you're unlikely to get a humane and clean kill. 350 FPS is plenty enough to help accurately hit your target where you're aiming.
Features
Scope
You'll notice the Whitetail Hunter 2 comes with a 4x32 scope which will allow you to easily hunt at 40-50 yards away. Once again, this can't be stated enough, you get quite the crossbow package at this pricepoint. With 350 FPS plus this included scope, you're ready to start hunting deer like a pro.
Trigger
Barnett's been really doing a great job pushing their high tech pieces into their lower priced crossbows, and the Whitetail Hunter 2 certainly benefits from that research and development. "Trigger tech" technology is included which gives it 3 lbs of zero-creep release making the trigger fun to pull.
Nock Sensor
Dry fires are one of the worst things you can do to your crossbow. Fortunately this crossbow comes with a nock sensor to help eliminate any accidental dry fires. This is also a great safety feature.
Components
The Barnett Whitetail Hunter 2 is made of stainless steel components. While this isn't great for reducing weight, it is great for the longevity and strength of your crossbow. This will give you a long life as long as you maintain the rest of the components. Read our guide on crossbow maintenance to make sure you keep your crossbow in great working order and maintain crossbow safety in the process.
Assembly
Some crossbows are an absolute pain to put together. Not this Hunter 2. This comes with a single bolt assembly. Yes, it's that easy to put together!
