Carbon Express X-Force Advantex Crossbow Review

Many of the features of the X-Force make it very easy to operate. The pistol grip is nice to have for getting off a quick shot. And the adjustable foregrip makes it customizable. The 11 inch Picatinny rail can get the grip into just the right position for any shooter. The trigger pull is very smooth and just a shade under being a quick trigger.

The anti-dry fire mechanism gets set as soon as the bolt is loaded. When you cock the crossbow, the safety is automatically set and then when your bolt is loaded up against the string, it won’t fire until you push the safety off.

The X-Force crossbow has a coating called Silentech that reduces vibrations, and, thus, noise. It almost has a cushioned feel in the hands. It’s easily one of the quietest crossbows on the market today.

For hunters, the small profile of the front end can really help whether you’re in a small blind or right in the bush. Yes, there is an almost 4 inch difference in width between cocked and uncocked. At only 16.25 inches uncocked, it is very narrow and will allow you to get into some tight spots and still get a shot off.

We really love how light and well balanced it is. It is not only easy to carry, but the balance makes it a cinch to make accurate shots. We definitely recommend this for youths getting into the sport.

Pros

  • Great price
  • Comes with everything needed to get started
  • Adjustable foregrip
  • Extremely silent
  • Comes with a multi reticle scope
  • Accurate and easy to operate

Cons

  • Not the highest FPS on the market
  • Doesn't look as good visually compared to others

What Comes with the X-Force Advantex?

You’re ready to hit the woods the day you bring your Advantex home since it comes with everything you need.

Besides the crossbow, you get:

Once you get the crossbow home, assembling it is fairly easy. Though the instructions are not very clear, you’re only mounting the front end, so it isn’t difficult.

Sighting your scope shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. It’s a multi reticle scope so you can easily get a good bead on your prey at up to 50 yards. If you’re doing target practice, you may even see accurate shots up to 90 yards thanks to the scope.

The bolts that are included are quite good. They are set with field tips at 100 grains. The carbon shafts are 20” long. If you have some favorite bolts, feel free to swap these out. However, you’re getting good quality arrows here so you really don’t need to use others.

If you do swap out for your own bolts, it’s recommended that you keep the combined grain weight to 400.

The quiver will hold 3 bolts and is easy to detach and re-attach to the crossbow.

As we already mentioned, you only need to have some broadhead tips ready if you want to go hunting. Other than that, you can be out in the woods and ready to bag a deer the very day you by the X-Force Advantex.

What Kind of Bolts Should I Use with the X Force Advantex?

G5 Montec Broadhead

The best and easiest thing to do is to use the included Pile Driver 20” carbon bolts. They are really high quality arrows that we recommend you use for any crossbow you use. The ones included come with fieldpoint tips. See all of Carbon Express' arrow options.

If you are to use different bolts, then stick to a combined 400 grains for weight and 20” length and you should be good. The type of broadhead for hunting is really a matter of preference. I recommend the G5 Montec Broadhead as it is one of the best options for hunting.

How is Hunting with the Carbon Express X Force Advantex?

With a speed of 315 feet per second, and 91 pounds of kinetic energy, you are surely able to take down most of the prey you would find yourself hunting in North America. From birds to deer, you won’t be underpowered when out on the hunt.

You get a very accurate bow to begin with. Add a multi reticle scope and your aim is greatly improved. Getting a kill shot, even at 50 yards, is very likely.

Add to that, the silence of the crossbow won’t spook your prey when you squeeze off a shot. The coating of SilenTech definitely keeps vibrations to a minimum and makes the X Force quieter than some of it’s more expensive peers.

The skeleton construction keeps the weight down and easy to carry to your stand. One accessory to think about is a case to make it even easier. It’s only necessary to make your life easier. The crossbow is fog, water and shock proof so it can rough the elements of the hunt even without a case.
